Robinsons removals proves its environmental credentials

21 June 2009

Robinsons, the business moving specialist, has won the contract to undertake removals for Natural England, the body that advises the government on the natural environment. The contract, which spans three years, has been awarded due to the strength of Robinsons’ commitment to sustainability and its innovative removals service Di-vert.

Central to the contract is Robinsons’ intelligent recycling service, Di-vert, which will ensure that, wherever possible, none of Natural England’s unwanted office furniture and equipment – generated via the moving process - will go to landfill. Di-vert provides a method for unwanted office furniture and equipment to be refurbished, donated to charity or recycled and importantly provides companies with a full audit trail to make the whole process transparent.  Alongside Di-vert, an important element of the contract is that Robinsons will track all of its carbon emissions on each project, so these can be measured and monitored by Natural England across the three years.

Natural England plays a central role in the conservation and protection of the environment and wildlife of England and accordingly has a strong sustainable procurement policy. Robinsons is pivotal to Natural England’s programme to consolidate its offices, ensuring it complies with the highest environmental standards and has the minimum impact on the environment.

“It is a real testament to the work we have undertaken at Robinsons to reduce our impact on the environment and that of our clients, that we have secured the contract with Natural England,” explained managing director Anthony Robinson. “It has been really refreshing to work with an organisation that puts such a great emphasis on sustainability and it gives Robinsons an opportunity to really shine in terms of our environmental initiatives and the transparency with which we work. We are all very proud that we get to prove our environmental credentials through working with such a great client as Natural England.”

A Natural England representative said: “Natural England welcomes the opportunity of working with Robinsons in building a relationship around move planning and innovative ideas for redundant office furniture and equipment. In particular, we look forward to working to reduce our own CO2 emissions, and that of our suppliers, when undertaking office moves.”

"From the outset Robinsons dealt with the planning of the move with the utmost professionalism and at no time was there any element of doubt on our part with regard to the physical move of our office environment."
