A Removals man in England who has battled six operations for his cancer has won a coveted international award for his excellent driving record.

Duncan Perry, from March, in Fenland, in Cambridgeshire, has won the prestigious International Road Transport users Diploma of Honour award.

The driver was presented with the award for his exemplary driving record alongside his three other colleagues of  Abel’s furniture , based in Huntingdon last year; the only four people to receive it in 2010 in the UK.

The father of three and stepfather of three joined the company 23 years ago but unfortunately he has not been working for the past year after being diagnosed with bowel cancer, due to a series of operations.

Stephen Vickers, Director General of the British Association of Removers, who gave the tribute to all four men, said: “For one firm to have all four of the recipients of the Diploma of Honour on its staff was a truly fantastic achievement. It reflected great credit on the drivers and Abels’ structure and training – and the way in which the firm retained its staff.”

The three other award winners were Kevin Baker, Tony Frior and Graham Ling.

The award acknowledges those world-wide who have exemplary driving records of at least 20 years; 15 of which must be in international service such as International Removals, and drivers who have covered more than one million kilometres.

Nearly 1,100 people global won the award last year.

Phil Pertoldi, Group Managing Director of Abels, said: “I am proud to have such a loyal and skilled workforce.

“This is a superb achievement. It speaks volumes for the high standards set by our company, and achieved by our employees, that the only four UK recipients of the Diploma of Honour work for Abels.

“I share Graham, Tony, Kevin and Duncan’s pride in knowing they hold highly-prized certificates issued by such a distinguished body as the International Road Transport Union. It is the world’s leading commercial transport organisation.”

Robinsons Named Best International Moving Company 2010

Monday, December 6th, 2010

We have won another award!

Robinsons Relocation have won the much-coveted ‘International Moving Company of the Year Award’ at the 2010 European EMMA Awards.

Robinsons Relocation Ltd’s Managing Director, Anthony Robinson, told how everyone is extremely proud and shocked as there was stiff competition.

He said: “This is the crowning accolade of what has been a momentous year for Robinsons, and a fabulous achievement for everyone who works for us. Their dedication and determination has been fully recognised.”

The judges at the awards were impressed by the leading role Robinsons plays in promoting environmentally responsible practices. The War on Waste” (WOW) campaign, launched to encourage all staff to consider ways to reduce wastage, is considered in every aspect of the business.

“WOW has made employees more environmentally aware and keeps waste and environmental issues at the forefront of everyone’s minds” said Anthony Robinson.

Robinsons’ carbon footprint calculator reports on the level of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) for each move – land, sea and air – the company carries out. This in turn provides a platform on which to set an accurate carbon footprint offsetting programme. Robinsons also provides comprehensive data to help clients meet their environmental targets.

The award is the latest in a successful run for Robinsons, having recently won the Relocation Supplier of the Year Award.

The Expatriate Management and Mobility Awards (EMMAs) are run by The Forum for Expatriate Management and are the the Oscars of the global mobility profession.

It celebrates the professionals who make relocation easier and the winners are chosen by a panel made up of very highly regarded names in the global mobility sector, so having an EMMA is renowned as the ultimate accolade for those who work in the industry.

Monday, May 10th, 2010

The Re:locate Awards winners for 2010 have been announced and it’s great news for Robinsons International Removals who picked up the much-coveted ‘Best Relocation Service Provider or Team of the Year’ award.

In a swanky gala dinner held at the Institute of Directors in London, the relocation industry’s finest were out in force for the third annual Re:locate Awards to recognise individuals, teams, policy and innovation, with a choice of categories for HR and service providers.

The high-calibre shortlist reflected the wide range of organisations and individuals involved in relocation, from HR staff to specialist support providers of various kinds, including relocation management companies, consultants, removals experts, home-search specialists, serviced accommodation providers and a furniture rentals company; all of which contribute knowledge and expertise to the relocation process.

The judging panel, consisting of distinguished figures from business, academia and the CIPD, evaluated all nominees on the basis of five key points:  Innovation and Achievement, Teamwork and Customer Relations, Leadership, Effective Use of Resources, and Environmental Contribution to Business.

With a belief that they have a service offer to be truly proud of, Robinsons were able to put forward a winning proposal to land this prestigious prize in the only UK awards ceremony to celebrate achievement in this niche area of expertise.

The judges hailed Robinsons International Removals for a “first-class” entry statement, well supported by a range of excellent client testimonials, succinct examples of processes, and laudable transparency in passing savings on to clients. They loved its WOW (War on Waste) campaign and carbon footprint calculator, and its forward-looking approach, internally and externally.

Stepping up to receive the award on behalf of Robinsons were Sales Director Rhonda Olsen and Relocations Manager Alistair Murray.

Rhonda said: “To have won such a prestigious award is absolutely fantastic and I dedicate it to the entire company who all contribute to ensure we deliver the very best service to our customers.

The summer issue of Re:locate, to be published in June, will feature full details of all the winners including individual case studies.
