Quirky Home Removals: Family Move Into Converted Bus

As far as quirky home removals go…this one definitely takes it up a gear!
A family of five from Croydon, in London have bought a converted bus from eBay and are turning it into a four bedroom home.
The cash-strapped family have decided to beat the recession and move out of their three bed council flat and into a bus after being refused a bigger house. The Sharp family had been told by the council to wait six years for a larger property for them and their three young children; so instead they have opted to take the matter into their own hands and renovate a bus.
When the motor vehicle is finally refurbished in six months’ time, then plan to move to the south coast and stay on private land with friends.
Ms Luke, a full time mother, reportedly got the idea of living on a bus rather than in a house from former school friends who all moved onto buses in the 1980s after joining the eco-movement. She said they simply couldn’t afford a bigger home with the state of the housing market and economy.
So far, the couple have converted the upper deck into three bedrooms with bunk beds for the children, and downstairs a kitchen has been installed at the front of the bus. At the back of the bus is a homemade sofa bed which sleeps two people.
The family apparently plan to make most of the furniture themselves and have been getting facilities like the shower and toilet from junk yards.
Mr Sharp, who is a former coach driver, is said to be installing the electrics and plumbing him-self but is calling on qualified tradesmen to ensure the work is safe and legal.
