Mark Thompson is expected to announce more job cuts at the BBC with plans to quit its west London home entirely.
The Director-general of the British Broadcasting Corporation is to reveal that it will possibly sell its London home land to Chelsea football club as part of a move that will see more staff relocated to Salford.
The public broadcaster implemented a cost-cutting strategy earlier this year which will see nearly 2,000 jobs cut and many programmes being eliminated to save money.
Several thousand employees based at the London sites, including Thompson himself, will be relocated up north. Many staff has moved to Salford already and it is now the home to Radio 5 Live, Blue Peter and Match of the Day.
The BBC has reportedly had talks about attracting Premier League clubs Chelsea or Queen’s Park Rangers as buyers of the site.
Further predicted plans include shutting down the factual department in BBC Birmingham and that BBC drama could move to Cardiff, where programmes such as Doctor Who are made already. The TV Centre will be vacated by 2015.
