Vodafone ‘Sure Signal’ set to help poor reception

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Vodafone has now launched Vodafone Sure Signal, which is a nifty little plug in box that will give you full 3G coverage in your home or office. Costing £50, there will be no more trampolining on the sofa to try and send a text and no more having to climb the loft ladder every time you want to speak to gran.

In fact, a recent survey has shown that one in 50 of us have become so frustrated at the lack of mobile phone coverage that we have seriously considered moving house.

Quick and easy to install, Vodafone Sure Signal plugs straight into any home or office broadband line with a download speed of at least 1 MB per second and works with all 3G handsets.

Up to 32 people can be registered to use a Vodafone Sure Signal and four people can use it at any one time – meaning those sick of ‘no signal’ may put their drastic plans of home removals on hold for now.

Guy Laurence, Vodafone UK CEO said: “Customers tell us it is life changing. If they live or work in a basement for example, the only way they may be able to get consistent mobile coverage could be with a Vodafone Sure Signal.

France voted the best country to live in

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

If you’re tired of living in the joint 25th best country to live in, the UK, it could be time to consider a move to the best, France.

The US magazine International Living has released its annual Quality of Life index, and France has won praise across almost all categories.

To produce this annual Index, they consider nine categories: Cost of Living, Culture and Leisure, Economy, Environment, Freedom, Health, Infrastructure, Safety and Risk, and Climate. This involves a lot of number crunching from “official” sources, including government websites, the World Health Organization, and The Economist, to name but a few. They also take into account what editors from all over the world have to say about their findings.

If you’re looking further afield for your overseas removals, Australia came second and New Zealand fourth, with America in sixth place.

NZ Visa changes to favour Brits

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

New Zealand immigration authorities have just announced changes to the Investor Visa category that should hopefully put it within reach of more international movers from Britain.

One visa is open to under-65s with three years’ business experience, and requires an investment of £658,000 (NZ$1.5m) over four years. The other has no age or business restrictions, but requires an investment of £4m (NZ$10m) over three years, plus settlement funds of NZ$1.5m.

Investments must be made into particular products, such as government bonds, corporate bonds, equities and managed funds to qualify.

“Business migration needs to be urgently addressed, and stakeholders’ feedback has been extremely positive regarding this new package,” said Dr Jonathan Coleman, New Zealand’s immigration minister.
