Choc horror! Cadbury set to move abroad?

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Thousands of UK jobs could move abroad if chocolate maker Cadbury is bought by US giant Kraft, a union has warned.

The union Unite claimed 7,000 jobs could go if control of the British firm shifted to Illinois in the US and a further 20,000 jobs in the supply chain could be at risk if the hostile bid goes through, it said.

A Kraft spokesman said the claims were “utterly unfounded”. He said Kraft’s bid for Cadbury would be better for British jobs than other options.

It’s another in a long line of business removals story as the global recession, once again, threatens to impact on British jobs.

Research is the key for international movers

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

It has been claimed that those who are relocating internationally – to the US or Australia for example – the conducting of research on removal firms is vital.

International movers should try not to be hoodwinked by simple publicity stunts and find a happy medium between price and good service, according to Global Relocations.

“Packing and relocating to an international location can be stressful and could prove to be unforgettable traumatic experience if not handled professionally,” the organisation says.

Although in the US or Australia it is unlikely that there will be any language barriers to contend with, the group says that it is best to go with an international removal company that has extensive local knowledge of the new country and can help relay relocation procedures.

A third of Brits wish they weren’t here…

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

A third of Brits want to emigrate because of the cold weather, according to a survey. One in three UK citizens aim to move away from the snow, ice and cold in the next 10 years.

Website Intotheblue.co.uk asked 1,682 people what their plans were for this decade – and a huge 34% said their main priority was to call in the overseas removals and leave the country.

A massive 86% of those dreaming of a move abroad said they wanted to move to a warmer climate. Some 61% said it was because they disliked the way the country was run.

Just 18% said the cost of living was too high and 16% blamed increased rates of immigration.
